What's The Big Event?
The
Big Event is the only student activity that unites all seven Health
Sciences Center colleges in an effort to say “thank you”
to the Oklahoma City metro area. This year will be a brand new Big Event. We will be going out into the
immediate community to help different organizations with tasks like cleaning, painting, landscaping, or just sharing our time. Our theme for the HSC Big Event, "Lend a Hand, Change a Life", specifically reflects our passion and dedication
to service. HSC students, faculty, and staff are excited about
putting their skills to use and invite you to join in our enthusiasm.
This year, some of the jobsites we will be helping are:
- Avery Headstart
- Edwards Redeemer Nursing Center
- F.D. Moon Middle School
- Grace Living Center
- Jeltz Senior Center
- McGuire Plaza
- St. Mary's CME Church
- Tolliver Alternative Care
- YWCA
On
March 28th, 2009 OUHSC students, faculty,
and staff will unite in an unparalleled effort to say thank you
to our community, one that provides constant support to the University
of Oklahoma. The seventh annual Big Event will impact hundreds of
community organizations throughout the Norman and Oklahoma City
Metro area. As the largest student-run community service effort
in the nation, The Big Event is one-of-a-kind in that it unifies
the campus with the surrounding community in a showing of gratitude
through philanthropy.
When: Saturday,
March 28th, 2009 - 9:30 a.m. until the job is done
